Outstanding task you have undertaken and something that is long overdue. I am impressed at what you have managed to compile already and have no doubt that the end product will do justice to the history of the martial arts in this country.
Hugh St John Thomson (Karate Do Founder)

What a monumental task you have mounted.  It is long overdue.  Good luck.  Thanks for the update, Hoosain.  It is clear that you have been quite busy since we last ‘spoke’.  It certainly brings back many happy and forgotten memories.  I wish you good luck with the project.  You have tackled a vast, crucial and very complicated subject!!
Paul de Beer (Aikido)

Firstly, congratulations on an amazing piece of work! Wow, that is incredibly detailed – I can’t believe the amount of time you must have taken to put this all together. Well done!
Greg Solomon (Tang Soo Do – Hong Kong)

If I may add that you underplay your own role in South African Karate. Since you started teaching in the early 80’s your influence on the spread of karate in the coloured and black townships as well as S.A. and the rest of the world as a whole through your knowledge, passion and human relationships cannot be matched by any local individual. So do not hesitate to state the facts.
Johan Roux (Karate Zen)

Mary-Ann Landers (New World Shotokan)

Congratulations, brother, on creating such an invaluable and all-encompassing body of work. I cannot recall witnessing a similar achievement in the past. I believe this is the first book of its kind that documents the martial arts history in South Africa. It will be safeguarded for future generations.
Salim Badat (Combat Science)
